Jack Grealish makes 'unbelievable' Erling Haaland point about underrated Liverpool star

Manchester City star Jack Grealish believes Trent Alexander-Arnold has been underrated amid ongoing criticism of his defensive capabilities.

Despite picking up yet another man of the match award in England’s win over Finland last week – his third such prize in his last four appearances for his country – Alexander-Arnold once again found himself under attack from Roy Keane

The former Manchester United captain has been a consistent critic of the Liverpool vice-captain, and while working as a pundit for ITV on England’s latest outing, he commented: “I still can't believe how bad he is defensively. Against better teams, of course he'll be found out."

Keane’s constant bashing of Alexander-Arnold has been a frustration for Liverpool fans for some time now, with the former midfielder having also been highly critical of the 26-year-old in the build-up to Euro 2024.

Now though, his England teammate has jumped to his defense, with Grealish insisting Alexander-Arnold receives too much criticism for his defensive capabilities, while making a comparison to his club mate Erling Haaland.

“Unbelievable. What a player,” Grealish told Sky Sports when speaking about the Liverpool star.

Asked if Alexander-Arnold is underrated defensively, Grealish responded: “Yeah, of course. Nowadays I think everyone just tries to look at something whether you are a defender, attacker, whatever, the things that people say is not their best strength, if that makes sense.

Obviously, I am not saying it’s not. I am saying that’s what people try to say, it’s like Erling, he’s an absolute machine, Erling, and then people say, oh, he needs to sort his touch or whatever when his touch is perfectly fine, do you know what I mean?

“Just people want to like have something to say and I think that’s what they do about Trent, but obviously, I play with him for England and he is an unbelievable player.”
